What better way than to finish a lovely Thanksgiving dinner than with one of our favorite Greek desserts?

Non-traditional St Augustine Style Thanksgiving dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 package (17 1/4 oz) frozen phyllo pastry, thawed
- 1 1/4 c butter, melted
- 1 1/4 c flaked coconut, lightly toasted
- 1/2 c macadamia nuts, finely chopped
- 1/2 c pecans, finely chopped
- 1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground allspice (or cinnamon)
- 1 c sugar
- 1/2 c water
- 1/4 c honey
Instructions
- Butter a 13x9x2 – inch baking pan
- Cut phyllo in half croaswise and cut each haf to fit pan (discard left overs)
- Cover phyllo that is waiting to be used with slightly damp towel
- Layer 10 phyllo sheets in pan brushing each with butter
- Combine coconut, macadamia nuts, pecans, brown sugar, and allspice; stir well
- Sprinkle 1/3 of mixture over phyllo in pan
- Layer 10 more sheets of phyllo; brushing each with butter
- Repeat procedure twice more; ending with phyllo with brushed butter
- Cut into diamond shapes using a sharp knife
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until top is browned
- Let cool completely
- Combine sugar, water and honey in a saucepan
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes
- Remove from heat and drizzle syrup over pastry
- Cover and let stand at room temperature 24 hours
