Saint Augustine Ballet was recently invited by The Morning Show on WJXT Channel Four to appear on their television show. Four dancers, Clea Calvin, Siena Calvin, CJ Katz and Kali Lee were the lucky cast members who made the early morning trip to the Jacksonville television station to perform an excerpt from The Nutcracker. Luis Abella, artistic director of Saint Augustine Ballet and Tommy Bledsoe, who portrays Clara’s father in The Nutcracker, also appeared on the show. Before being interviewed by the Morning Show host, Ayesha Faines, the four dancers and Mr. Abella performed a dance from the Party Scene in The Nutcracker. If you missed their performance, tune in on December 4 between 8:00 and 9a.m. for a second chance to see an excerpt from the ballet. At that time, cast member, Rosa Bledsoe, will be making an appearance on The Morning Show dancing the role of The Sugar Plum Fairy.
Saint Augustine Ballet will present their version of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker on December 16 and 17 at 7p.m. and on Sunday, December 18 at 2p.m. All performances will take place at Flagler College Auditorium located at 14 Granada Street in downtown Saint Augustine. Tickets are $15, $20, $25, and $30. They may be purchased on-line at www.saintaugustineballet.com or at Abella’s School of Dance at 1765 Tree Blvd. located across the street from Cobblestone Village on State Route 312.
