Art, Music and More!
This is going to be an exciting First Friday Art Walk in St. Augustine! There is going to be a concert by Harpist Mary Jan Ballou, a St. Augustine resident and new exhibits will open in more than 20 area galleries from 5 to 9 pm. As usual there are free trolley rides being offered throughout downtown St. Augustine to art walk participant locations.
Advice from Beach to River:
One stop along your journey should be Claude’s Chocolate; which is not offically “art,” but that is a debatable point. Disclaimer: Beach to River is firmly in the Chocolate IS Art corner.
Featured Exhibit
Beach to River’s Featured Exhibit this month is: “Florida Highwaymen.” The gallery located in the courtyard area of the Lightner Museum will feature artist Al “Blood” Black displaying his “Florida Highwaymen” works. The Highwaymen were a group of black artists who began a new style of painting in Florida more than 50 years ago. Black will be on hand to meet the public and discuss his art from 5 to 9 pm on Friday, Aug. 6 and will return on Saturday and Sunday Aug. 7-8.
